India’s automobile sector continues to witness dynamic changes, with Skoda and Volkswagen showing notable performance in February 2025. The newly launched Skoda Kylaq, a sub-compact SUV, has significantly boosted Skoda’s market position, while Volkswagen is focusing on strategic launches and discounts to sustain its growth.

Skoda Sales Report – February 2025

Skoda India registered a 148% year-on-year (YoY) sales increase, selling 5,583 units in February 2025, up from 2,254 units in February 2024. Month-on-month (MoM) growth was also strong at 35%, with January 2025 recording 4,133 units.

Skoda Kylaq – A Game Changer

Sales Performance: 3,636 units in February 2025 (193% MoM growth from January’s 1,242 units)

Launch & Pricing: Bookings opened in December 2024, with deliveries starting on January 27, 2025. The base model is priced at ₹7.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Impact: The Kylaq has quickly become Skoda’s best-seller, driving overall brand growth.

Other Skoda Models Performance

Skoda Kushaq: Declined 9% YoY to 1,035 units (from 1,137 units in February 2024) and dropped 25% MoM from 1,371 units in January 2025.

Skoda Slavia: Sales fell 12% YoY to 901 units and declined 40% MoM from 1,504 units in January 2025.

Skoda Kodiaq: Witnessed a steep 89% YoY decline, with just 10 units sold compared to 89 in February 2024. MoM sales remained flat at 10 units.

Volkswagen Sales Report – February 2025

Volkswagen India recorded 3,110 unit sales in February 2025, reflecting a 3% YoY growth from 3,019 units in February 2024. However, MoM sales declined by 7%, down from 3,344 units in January 2025.

Top-Performing Volkswagen Models

Volkswagen Virtus: 1,837 units sold, reflecting 13% YoY growth and 2% MoM increase from January’s 1,795 units.

Volkswagen Taigun: Sales declined 1% YoY to 1,271 units and dropped 18% MoM from 1,548 units in January 2025.

Volkswagen Tiguan: Sales plummeted 98% YoY to just 2 units (from 102 units in February 2024). However, MoM sales doubled from 1 unit in January 2025.

Volkswagen’s Market Strategy

Volkswagen is offering heavy discounts in March 2025 to clear existing stock and improve sales performance. Additionally, the company has plans to revive the Polo brand, which was discontinued in 2022. Exciting upcoming launches include:

Skoda & Volkswagen Combined Sales Performance – February 2025

Total Combined Sales: 8,693 units

YoY Growth: 64.86% increase from 5,273 units in February 2024

MoM Growth: 16.26% rise from 7,477 units in January 2025

Best-Selling Model: Skoda Kylaq (3,636 units, contributing significantly to the growth)

Despite some models experiencing a decline, the Kylaq’s performance has ensured overall growth for both Skoda and Volkswagen. Looking ahead, the launch of new models and aggressive marketing strategies will play a crucial role in sustaining momentum.
