Honda City Sport Launched in India at ₹14.89 Lakh: New CVT-Only Limited Edition Variant

This launch confirms earlier reports that Honda had plans to introduce a sportier edition of the City for Indian buyers.

Honda City Sport – Price and Positioning

The City Sport is priced ₹49,000 higher than the V CVT variant, making it a mid-spec offering aimed at customers looking for sportier styling without going all the way up to the VX or ZX trims.

Honda City Variant Prices (Ex-Showroom, Delhi):

VariantManualCVT
SV₹12.38 lakh
V₹13.15 lakh₹14.40 lakh
Sport₹14.89 lakh
VX₹14.21 lakh₹15.47 lakh
ZX₹15.40 lakh₹16.65 lakh

Exterior Styling Updates

The Honda City Sport features several blacked-out elements that give it a more dynamic, performance-oriented look compared to the regular variants.

Notable exterior changes:

  • Gloss black grille
  • Blacked-out rear boot spoiler
  • Dark-finished alloy wheels
  • Blacked-out shark fin antenna
  • Blacked-out ORVM covers
  • ‘Sport’ badge on the boot lid

The City Sport is available in three colour options:

  • Radiant Red Metallic
  • Platinum White Pearl
  • Meteoroid Grey Metallic

Interior Changes and Feature Additions

Inside the cabin, the City Sport adopts an all-black theme with striking red contrast highlights, differentiating it from other variants that typically use beige or dual-tone layouts.

Interior highlights:

  • Black leatherette upholstery with red accents
  • Red highlights on seats, door trims, dashboard and steering wheel
  • Gloss black AC vent surrounds
  • Black roof liner and pillars
  • 7-colour ambient lighting system
  • Leatherette finish on steering, gear knob and seats

Features: What You Get and What You Miss

While it builds on the V CVT’s equipment list, the City Sport doesn’t offer everything from higher trims.

Added over the V CVT:

  • Leatherette interior finishes
  • Ambient lighting system (7 colours)

Retained features:

  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • ADAS safety suite
  • Paddle shifters
  • Front fog lamps
  • Auto headlamps
  • Keyless entry and push-button start

Features not available on the Sport:

  • Sunroof
  • Rear AC vents
  • 4 tweeters (only 4 speakers provided)
  • LaneWatch camera
  • 7-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Auto wipers
  • Auto-dimming IRVM

Engine and Transmission

There are no mechanical changes on the Honda City Sport. It uses the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 121hp, paired with a 7-step CVT automatic gearbox. The variant does not offer a manual transmission option.

Key specifications:

  • Engine: 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol
  • Power: 121hp
  • Gearbox: CVT only (no manual option)
  • Fuel type: Petrol

Final Thoughts

The Honda City Sport brings a unique visual identity to the midsize sedan, catering to buyers who want a bit more flair without stepping into higher trims. While it skips a few comfort features, it makes up with exclusive styling, leatherette upholstery, and ambient lighting.

With its limited availability, the City Sport offers a solid alternative to those wanting a distinct version of the City CVT at a slightly higher price.
